BBC Radio 2 Breakfast DJ Zoe Ball can be seen with her son Woody Cook on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox, but she also has another child who is less known in the public eye.

The radio personality is a devoted mother to two children, Woody, 23 and Nelly, 14, with ex-husband Fatboy Slim, known offstage as Norman Cook. The couple got married in 1999 and and were together until 2016, when they announced their divorce.

The DJ has just announced her departure from Radio 2, stunning fans as she broke the news on air this morning.

Zoe said: “After six incredible years on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, it’s time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family. It’s been a privilege. I think the world of you listeners and I’m grateful to my bosses here for their support, especially this year.”

During the summer, the radio presenter posted a picture on social media of her 14-year-old daughter, Nelly along side BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James and fans were quick to spot the striking similarities between mother and daughter.

As one fan remarked: “She doesn’t half look like you @zoetheball,” while another said: “Wow a mini you”

Another noted: “wow, doesn’t she look like you! apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

Zoe revealed despite hosting her own radio programme, Greg is Nelly’s “favourite breakfast DJ.”

Zoe’s radio departure comes after she announced the death of her mother, Julie Peckham following her cancer diagnosis, in April this year. The Radio 2 breakfast show host made the announcement on Twitter sharing the message “Sleep tight dear Mama.”

Zoe shared a heartfelt tribute on social media after the funeral. Posting a series of nostalgic pictures of her mother together with an extensive message discussing the funeral which she labelled as “perfect”.

She wrote: “Yesterday we said goodbye to our dear Mama, Granny J. it was the perfect day and she would have loved it. Forever in our hearts Mama, thank you for your magic and love. missing you so much but holding tight to each other.”

The radio DJ took the time to give her thanks to everyone involved in the funeral, including a message to those battling with cancer.

She stated: “Thank you to everyone who sent kind messages, cards and flowers. Big love to the many of you who have shared with us about your own loss and heartbreak, to those battling with cancer or looking after loved ones affected by cancer. we wish you all the strength and love. and of course the humour you need to keep going. some days it’s so hard to be brave.”
