Coleen Rooney was left in tears after she opened up about the devastating loss of her little sister Rosie during Monday’s tear jerking episode of I’m A Celeb.

The 38-year-old WAG opened up to her campmates about her younger sibling who tragically passed away in 2013 when she was just 14-years-old. Rosie had a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome before her death which is a rare brain disorder that causes severe disabilities.

This was not the only emotional conversation to take place in the camp yesterday evening after boxer Barry McGuigan broke down when discussing his own grief over the loss of his daughter. The 63-year-old sadly lost his late daughter Danika to bowel cancer in 2019 when she was just 33-years-old.

Coleen confided in Dean and Oti in the camp, saying: “Even when Rosie died, I kept it together for me mum and dad.”

Adding that the anniversary of Rosie’s death would soon be coming up in January, she said: “She was 14 when she died, she’d be 26 now. It’s hard to lose a child, I’ve always said that… so we’re lucky to have what we’ve got.”

Marking the sad date last year Coleen shared a tribute to Instagram which read: “11 years without you. We love and miss you always Rosie Mc.”

The McLoughlins had taken Rosie in as a foster child when she was just two-years-old with Coleen previously opening up about her relationship with her in the Wagatha Christie Disney+ documentary.

She said: “When Rosie came along she was a massive part of our lives. She was the sister that I never thought I was going to have.

“I used to do her hair and used to love picking clothes with me mum for her. She brought that little bit extra to the house. We fell in love with her.’

The McLoughlins soon realised that Rosie was struggling with her development and she was later diagnosed with Rett syndrome following a series of hospital tests.

Towards the end of her life, Rosie could sadly no longer eat, talk or move and required 24-hour care. After being admitted to intensive care, Coleen revealed had brought her home to spend her final days surrounded by her loved ones.

Meanwhile, Barry also opened up about the loss of his only daughter, Danika, who passed away from bowel cancer just five weeks after her diagnosis in 2019.

Danika, who was affectionately known as Nika, was an actress and had starred in films including Philomena, Mammal and Wildlife.

The Irish boxer heartbreakingly told Loose Women’s Jane Moore: “She had pains in her tummy but she was making the movie, she put it off and went to the doctor, called us all in. Stage 4 bowel cancer, 5 weeks, 5 weeks she died.”

I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly discussed the emotional moment of Barry breaking down on the ITV2 spin-off show I’m A Celebrity…Unpacked after the scene aired with new father Ant admitting it moved him to tears.
