A “very cosy” cabin in Scotland’s ‘Christmas capital’ can now be booked for a winter getaway.

As reported by the Daily Record, Inverness was recently named the top Christmas destination in the country. Beating out popular festive spots such as Edinburgh and Glasgow, the Highlands city reportedly has the highest chance of snowfall over the winter and the most restaurants per 1,000 residents.

For those looking for a Christmas getaway, a timber-built chalet just out of Inverness’s city centre is currently available through Airbnb. The accommodation, which sleeps up to two people, can be booked for £90 per night.

Situated on its own plot, with “free parking for any size of vehicle”, the cabin features a kitchen, living space, double bedroom, and a bathroom. There is also an outdoor deck with a hot tub, where guests can enjoy a warm soak as the mercury drops.

The accommodation is listed as a ‘guest favourite’ on Airbnb, meaning it is one of the website’s “most loved homes“. It currently has an average rating of 4.95 out of five based on 458 reviews.

One recent visitor shared: “Kirsty and her husband were absolutely lovely and kind hosts. The cabin was cozy and clean and so much more.

“We had an amazing time on our stay and loved meeting their wee dog Kite. Would 100 per cent recommend!”

A second agreed: “My second stay at Kirsty’s cabin, wonderful again! Perfect location, cabin has everything you need.

“I’m sure we’ll be back again! Thank you Kirsty.”

Meanwhile, another Airbnb user wrote: “This is a really great relaxing place to stay. Everything was clean and had very cosy vibes, would definitely recommend as a little getaway.”

On the other hand, a negative review reads: “Everything is very dirty! Cobwebs, dust and crumbs from previous guests found throughout the kitchen.”

If you are looking to spend a day or two in Scotland’s “Christmas capital”, but the Airbnb chalet does not appeal, there are plenty of other accommodation options around Inverness. Some of the highlights include the five-star Ness Walk Hotel and the newly refurbished Mercure Inverness Hotel.
