According to Samantha Markle’s lawyer, Prince Harry should have been known as the “Duke of Wails”, as he refers to Meghan Markle’s half sister’s latest case filings.
The Duke of Sussex has been mistaken for the Prince of Wales in a court filing by Samantha Markle, Meghan Markle’s sister, reports have claimed.
Samantha is suing her half sister for libel over comments made during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix documentary series ‘Harry & Meghan’, that was released in 2022, reports the Express.
Although the case lost at the Federal Court in Florida, it has now gone to the Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
Peter Ticktin, of the Ticktin Law Group, told Newsweek: “To most of us, Americans, we couldn’t give a tinker’s damn as to whether that prince is the Duke of Wales, the Duke of Sussex, or the Duke of Earl.
“In fact, I wish I could say it was simply a spelling mistake when he should have been the Duke of Wails.”
Meghan was sued over comments she made in a tell all interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, as well as on the Netflix documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’ in 2022, with her sister Samantha accusing her of claiming “false and malicious lies” about her fairytale “rags-to-royalty” up brining, as well as contesting her claim that she “grew up as an only child”.
Newsweek claimed that it seen court filings issued by Samantha’s lawyer, that had Prince Harry named the Prince of Wales, which is the title his older brother, Prince William, currently holds.
Ticktin continued: “In all seriousness, we have a guy here in the United States who believes our 1st Amendment is ‘Bonkers’ meaning crazy, while he is one of 16 governors of a group called the Aspen Institute (the Ministry of Truth) who decide which statements on our internet should be deleted as misinformation.”
Prince Harry was a commissioner with The Aspen Institute’s Commission on Information Disorder, which sought to help government, the private sector and civil society respond to the spread of false information online – according to its website.
Mr Ticktin also said the Duke should be labelled as “the Minister of Fiction”.
Mr Ticktin also spoke out regarding “hypocrisy” after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched the Archwell Foundation Parent’s Network, which aims to protect children from online harm.
He said: “The Sussex Squad smear, threaten, and set out to destroy anyone who criticises Meghan or Harry. They are the evil which Harry pretends to be against.”
This summer, the couple promoted the launch of the parents’ network which focuses on the risk of suicide among young people, due to social media.
Speaking of the initiative in an interview with CBS about risks to children, Prince Harry stated: “They [children] could be in the next-door room on a tablet or on a phone and can be going down these rabbit holes. And before you know it, within 24 hours, they could be taking their life.”
Prince Harry was born His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales, however after his wedding day in 2018 the prince was granted the Dukedom of Sussex, the Earldom of Dumbarton in Scotland and Barony of Kilkeel in Northern Ireland, by his grandmother the late Queen Elizabeth.
Harry went as the title his Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex until he stepped down as a senior working royal in 2020, and is now unable to use his HRH title in practice.
The Prince of Wales title is given to the heir to the British throne, which is currently held by Prince William.

According to Newsweek, Samantha’s lawyers made a massive error when referring to the duke in the court filling, mistaking him for the “Prince of Wales”.
The filing reportedly read: “Amidst the ongoing publicity of their fairytale engagement and wedding and subsequent fallout with the ‘Royals,’ Meghan started a production studio, Archewell Productions with her husband, Harry, Prince of Wales.”
