Scotland face a playoff to stay in with the Nations League big boys thanks to their stunning win in Warsaw on Monday night – but could face a tough task to remain at the top table in the competition.

Steve Clarke will learn his rivals when the draw takes place in Nyon on Friday and after the conclusion of the final round of group games on Tuesday the picture became a little bit clearer. The League A/B play-off matches, played home and away over two legs, take place on March 20 and 23 next year with Scotland at Hampden for the second leg.

A revenge mission could be on the cards and the possibility of a Real Madrid boy wonder heading to Glasgow. Here, Record Sport looks at the four opponents we could face.

Ukraine

This would offer a little chance of revenge after the Ukrainians ended Scotland’s hopes of reaching the Qatar World Cup a couple of years ago with a 3-1 win at Hampden Park. That was a huge blow for Steve Clarke and his troops who had savoured the joy of going to the Euros. Ukraine defeated Albania on Tuesday night to secure second place but only finished one point above them and Georgia and three behind Czech Republic. Not the force they were.

Greece

Judging by their Nations League form this would be a bit of a daunting task. Serbian Ivan Jovanovic took charge this year and they picked up 15 points from their League B section and that included a stunning victory over England at Wembley. They also defeated the Republic of Ireland home and away.

Austria

Scotland were unbeaten against the Austrians in World Cup qualifying a couple of years ago and that included an impressive win away from home.

Managed by former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick, they lost just once in their Nations League group but that was enough to see them finish behind Norway. Would be tough rivals.

Turkiye

The Turks suffered a shock 3-1 loss against Montenegro to complete a bit of a miserable campaign as Wales jumped above them thanks to their win over Iceland, consigning them to a play off. Former Italy striker Vincenzo Montella is the man in charge and Real Madrid wonderkid Arda Guler is the the one to watch.
