Newcomer Maura Higgins is poised to receive cheers from close pal Molly-Mae Hague as she ventures into the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

Despite rumours swirling about Maura Higgins joining this series of I’m A Celebrity, her name was conspicuously absent from the initial line-up.

Yet, anticipation bubbled as Ant and Dec confirmed that the Irish sensation, famed for her stint on Love Island, will be entering the Australian jungle as a belated addition. Alongside Reverend Richard Coles, the 33-year-old model and television star is expected to initially be secluded from fellow campmates like GK Barry and Coleen Rooney.

Maura broke the news to her fans about her Australian adventure on Instagram, bidding adieu as she braced for a digital detox, reports OK!.

She posted: “I’m landing in Australia! The minute I land, my chaperone is taking my phone off me, so this is goodbye, My manager’s going to be looking after my social media while I’m in hell and she’s going to ruin my life on my Instagram. Facts.”

“I’ve been trying to prepare my brain and mind this whole flight but I spent most of it sleeping because I’ve been hungover.”

“I just hope I do everyone proud. I hope I don’t let you down but most importantly I hope to do myself proud because I don’t wanna be the biggest p**** in camp. The next time you see me I’m going to have bugs all over me. Love you.”

The post garnered a slew of comments, including support from fellow TV stars. Stacey Solomon chimed in with encouragement: “You’ve got this Maura…you’re stronger than you know! Good luck!”.

Ariana Madix also showed her enthusiasm, commenting: “You are going to become queen of the jungle!”.

Molly-Mae Hague, who met Maura on Love Island and was once part of a love triangle with boxer Tommy Fury, also responded to the video. Despite their complicated beginnings on the show, they have maintained a strong friendship.

When Molly-Mae’s relationship with Tommy came to an end earlier this year, Maura was among those offering support, commenting on Molly-Mae’s post-break-up photo: “LOVE and ADORE YOU,” along with a white heart emoji.

Now, as Maura heads to Australia, Molly-Mae has returned the favour, sending a succinct message of support. She commented “Queen” accompanied by a love heart emoji.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
