I’m A Celebrity’s Danny Jones’ sister Vix Wright-Jones had a heartfelt message for him following Wednesday’s emotional show.
On Thursday’s edition of Lorraine, host Lorraine Kelly chatted with McFly musician Danny’s sister, Vix, following a recent emotional episode where her brother candidly discussed his long-standing battle with anxiety since his teenage years.
In Wednesday’s instalment of I’m A Celebrity, viewers saw Danny comforted by fellow campmates as he recounted a past panic attack he experienced on live television, opening up about his mental health challenges and shedding tears in the process.
Vix spoke on Lorraine saying: “It was really nice to see that side to him to see a more vulnerable side to him, you always see this party kind of character. He is that, he totally is that, he’s the life and soul but yeah I was really proud of him for that.”
During Wednesday’s show, Danny delved into the significance of his wrist tattoo, which bears the phrase ‘don’t worry, be happy’. When probed by Loose Women panelist Jane Moore regarding the tattoo, he admitted he’s a worrier, reports the Express.
Danny confessed: “It’s because I’m always constantly worrying, but that’s what I’m working on.” When questioned about seeking therapy, Danny continued: “Yeah, I’ve been in therapy since I was 19 for anxiety.”
He then shared a memory of an on-air panic attack that had him “freaking out” during a broadcast interview. Danny recounted the distressing experience, saying: “I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me. Then it started happening in my work, I felt like a camera had gone above me, I had this white out like I was going to puke, heart rate goes crazy.”
This led Jane to inquire if he’d been dealing with it since childhood, which caused Danny to tearfully confess: “I think I escaped a lot.”
As Danny became visibly moved, his campmate Tulisa Contostavlos observed from the Bush Telegraph: “We’re seeing a lot of emotion coming out of Danny which is beautiful.” Following the emotional moment, Danny expressed gratitude towards his fellow campmates and apologised for his tears.
Tulisa immediately reassured him, stating: “Rule number one, no apologising for crying in camp” while Danny elaborated: “It’s only when you get into it… I wanna be able to talk about it, every time I talk about it it’s so much easier.”
He continued: “But everything is heightened in here. I feel like a burden sometimes, like you don’t wanna hear about my story, I felt it was so important to speak to someone.” Tulisa offered comfort, telling him: “It’s really good to let it out and it’s really brave to be vulnerable, people respect it.”
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9PM on ITV1 and ITV X.
