Scott Brown hilariously responded to Nacho Novo‘s challenge to a boxing match – saying it wouldn’t be a fair fight, and he’d rather make it UFC!

The Celtic legend and Ayr United boss joined us on Thursday’s Hotline LIVE and host Daniel Caw was quick in getting to a question from punter David Ferry surrounding Novo’s quotes from earlier on Thursday. The Rangers hero, now a keen boxer, was asked about the possibility of getting into the ring with Brown – refusing to rule it out and joking he’d continue to have him ‘in my back pocket.’

Brown hadn’t heard about the story until he joined Daniel and Keith Jackson on the live show. And he said: “He’s called me out?! The wee tiny guy? I wouldn’t even need to turn up. Can we not make it UFC? I wouldn’t mind a wee choke out…”

The exact moment Scott Brown found out about Novo’s ‘challenge’

He was then read Novo’s quotes, which start off with some bullish fighting talk but finish off complimentary. He said: “Scott is a good player. I met him a couple times for dinner. On the pitch, like me, he just wants to win. He’s a winner and he wants to play his best. He’s had a great career and he was a great player.”

And Brown responded: “He was nice at the end! ‘I want to batter him, but he’s actually not a bad guy!’

“I’m not sure I want to batter Nacho Novo. It’s not going to be (a fair fight). Why does he want to fight people anyway?”

It was then pointed out that Novo had a bout with social media influencer Caz Mulligan pencilled for the Hydro in August, which was pulled a month in advance. “I’m not sure I’m an influencer…” Brown said. “Is he just trying to hit the old guy?”
