A man has been found dead on a busy footpath along a river in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the scene near St Bernard’s Well at the Water of Leith at around 10.15am on Thursday, November 21.
Officers from Police Scotland have now confirmed that a 64-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the death is being treated as unexplained, however it’s not believed to be suspicious.
Earlier we told how the area was seen to be blocked off with a uniformed officer standing guard near Miller Row in the Stockbridge area. Forensic officers were also spotted combing the scene and a tent was erected. Cops say their enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.15am on Thursday, 21 November, 2024, we were called to a report of concern for a man on Water of Leith Walkway, Edinburgh.
“Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained, however it’s not believed to be suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing.”
