Sky Sports legend Jeff Stelling has blasted an early check-in charge policy at a Scots hotel as a “money making rip off”.
The former anchor man of Soccer Saturday, who is now an after dinner speaker, was hosting a Q&A at the Hamilton Town House on Thursday night and had booked a night in the plush Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park hotel at Hamilton Racecourse.
However, taking to X the disgruntled TV star told his 271,000 followers that the hotel should “hang their heads in shame”, claiming he was told to either wait two-and-a-half hours or pay £10 an hour to check in before 3pm, despite the room being ready.
He posted: “Hang your heads in shame Hilton Hotels. Room ready at Hamilton Park but have to wait two-and-a-half hours or pay £10 an hour to check in before 3. Money making rip off.”

The post got 1.2million views with his fans siding with the presenter. One wrote: “This is the content we love, Jeff – let the legend check in!”
Another posted: “Paying to check in to a hotel early is the worst rule ever. I just don’t understand it.”
One quipped: “Surely you can afford this Jeff?”
And quoting Chris Kamara’s legendary catchphrase, a fan simply said: “Unbelievable Jeff!”
Responding to Stelling’s post, Hilton Honors said: “Sorry to hear we let you down. If you need assistance, we’re here to help! Just shoot us a DM with more details.”
Jeff was joined on the Town House stage by former Sky colleague Bianca Westwood, special guest Charlie Nicholas and a surprise appearance by Frank McAvennie as they shared hilarious anecdotes from his 30-year career that saw him rise to fame as the recognisable face of Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.
Jeff joined the popular programme in 1994 and presented almost every episode before his departure at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park was contacted for comment.
