SAN ANTONIO — A Killeen mother has been arrested after her 16-month-old was found hanging outside of a window being protected by a dog while she was on a date in San Antonio.
Around 10 a.m. on July 28, the Killeen Police Department responded to an apartment located on the 600 block of West Hallmark after receiving reports of a child hanging outside a window and an aggressive dog trying to attack the child.
Upon arrival, officers found the child with his head and shoulders hanging from a first-story window while a dog outside was charging at other residents attempting to help the toddler.
Officers got into the home and found the toddler in just a t-shirt and nothing else. There was reportedly visible feces on the victim along with signs of a possible diaper rash.
Police did a sweep of the home to discover that the toddler was alone in the apartment with two dogs, one of which was helping protect the toddler as it hung from the window. Officers said they could tell precautions were taken to leave the child alone without a sitter as all the doors were closed off, a baby gate was blocking the kitchen and the deadbolt on the door was locked.
The mother of the victim was identified as Reese Louise Myers and she told authorities that she was on a date in San Antonio with a guy she met on the dating app Hinge. She also told authorities that she had Facebook messaged a baby sitter she had used in the past, but she was able to prove to police that she had not been in contact with Myers since December 2023.
Myers is facing child endangerment charge(s).
