Tulisa Contostavlos revealed she is “demisexual” during a discussion about her personal life in the I’m a Celeb jungle.
The former X Factor judge is camping with a star studded line up down under – Wag Coleen Rooney, McFly’s Danny Jones, boxer Barry McGuigan – and this week Love Island icon Maura Higgins, and Reverend Richard Coles joined them.
Earlier in the week, an episode caught viewers’ attention as the campmates opened up about dating and sexuality. Podcaster GK Barry, whose real name is Grace Keeling, shared her story of coming out to her parents.
The influencer spoke in the camp about how her relationship with footballer girlfriend Ella Rutherford caused her to come out to her parents.
Meanwhile, Tulisa opened up about her own sexuality during a conversation with Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough. Discussing her dislike of dating apps, she said: “I feel like I’m demisexual; I need to have a really close emotional bond with someone.”
Demisexuality is a type of asexuality where a person only experiences sexual attraction to someone after establishing a strong emotional connection.
It is only after forming this bond that they may feel any sexual attraction toward another individual.
Demisexuality spans the entire spectrum of sexual orientation, meaning a person can be straight, gay, bisexual, pansexual, or identify with any other sexuality while also being demisexual.
This also extends to gender identities, as demisexuality can be found among individuals of all genders.
