The entrance of Reverend Richard Coles into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp was nothing short of explosive.

The ex-Strictly Come Dancing celeb faced a gut-turning eating trial that left viewers squirming. As his new pals watched on, Rev Coles kicked off with a vile beverage, and Danny Jones couldn’t help but shout a warning to him.

Host Declan Donnelly introduced the cleric’s first nasty nosh, stating: “This is… ‘cammovile tea’… which is fermented herring.”

The revelation made Rev Richard groan at the thought of guzzling the foul concoction. Dec prompted him: “If you could polish off that whole cup”, reports the Mirror.

After confirming it was indeed the full cup that needed downing, Reverend Richard joked: “More tea, vicar.” Maura Higgins couldn’t hide her disgust as she witnessed Rev Richard downing the drink, shouting: “Oh, my god.”

What looked like a promising beginning to the trial swiftly took a turn as the drinks flavour assaulted the reverend’s senses, leaving him struggling not to vomit as the horrid liquid almost made a forceful comeback.

Pop sensation Danny watched on as his fellow campmate faced the challenge, cautioning Richard with a firm “Don’t stop”. He persisted, saying: “Keep going, don’t stop.” However, it was a tough ask for Richard who visibly struggled to gulp down the unpalatable concoction, leading to an awkward cough.

At that moment, Ant couldn’t help but hilariously react, fanning his face with his cue card, exclaiming: “I’ve just got a whiff of that.”

From off-camera came other voices chiming in disapproval, with one campmate asserting “That’s really bad!” as Ant clamped his nose shut in distaste, he quipped: “You won’t catch me drinking that.”

The footage ends with the Reverend teetering on the brink of gagging but leaves viewers hanging on whether he managed to earn the coveted star for the camp’s dinner.

In a Friday twist on I’m A Celebrity, BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough bade goodbye to the main camp, setting off to the ‘basic’ Jungle Junkyard. There, new arrivals Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles awaited him though the main campmates remained oblivious to the junkyard’s deceptive luxury.

While claiming to be surviving on minimal rations and comfort, Maura and Richard were actually having a grand time. Dean discovered this hidden truth upon his dramatic shift to the junkyard on Friday evening when Maura and Richard playfully misled him with grim warnings before finally instructing him to hit the big red button that would reveal their little paradise.
