BUFFALO, NY. (KCTV/Gray News) – Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was fined more than $14,000 by the NFL for a celebration that was considered a “violent gesture.”
There were about 12 minutes left in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills.
In a clip posted by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Mahomes is shown making two “finger guns” in celebration.
The National Football League later ruled the pose as a “violent gesture,” falling under its definition of unsportsmanlike conduct.
The fine for a first offense of unsportsmanlike conduct is $14,096.
According to CBS Sports, Mahomes had only been penalized once before in his career.
Last season, he was fined $50,000 for “verbally abusing” officials.
