A poignant tribute to Phoenix Spencer-Horn was widely shared across social media over the weekend at the request of her family and friends.

The communities of East Kilbride and Strathaven were asked to honour the “beautiful” 21-year-old by sharing an image of angel wings, a love heart and a candle adorned with the nickname she was affectionately known as, ‘Phe’.

Tributes have poured in for the popular restaurant worker after news of her tragic death rocked the towns.

Phoenix, from Strathaven, worked locally in the Strathaven Hotel and Roasted cafe.

Her body was discovered by police in a flat in Glen Lee on Monday, November 18.

Her boyfriend Ewan Methven appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November 20 charged with murdering Phoenix. He made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear again this week.

Police Scotland said Phoenix’s family were “stunned” and “completely devastated” by her death.

Now, in a bid to honour the “kind”, “warm” and “generous” young woman, her friends and family asked people to share this image in memory of Phoenix as a mark of respect.

It reads: ‘The family and friends of Phoenix Spencer-Horn would appreciated this shared in her memory. They would love everyone to focus on beautiful Phe and that only at this time.’

It comes after a community fundraiser was set up to help her family with funeral costs which has so far raised over £2500.

Social media tributes were paid as the news of Phoenix’s death spread.

One said: “Phe’s presence was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She never failed to light up a room with her warmth and infectious smile. Phe will stay in our hearts forever, the family and friends of Phoenix. Such a lovely girl.”

Another posted: “Absolutely heartbreaking thoughts go out to all her family friends. So many lives destroyed. Sending love, can’t imagine your pain.”

One friend wrote: “I am absolutely speechless, Phe you did not deserve this, how can this world be so cruel! Rip angel. Friendship I will never forget.”
