A new list of the “coldest places in Scotland over winter” has been revealed.
While winter has not officially started yet, temperatures across Scotland have already started plummeting. Some parts of the country are more likely to see especially chilly conditions during the season ahead, however.
Experts from Online Marketing Surgery and Green Leaf Garden Buildings recently shared their Winter Report. The report looks at areas Scotland with the highest and lowest minimum temperature over last year’s winter period to determine the potential coldest areas this year.
Coming in as the number one coldest area in Scotland is Paisley in Renfrewshire. According to the report, temperatures in the town reached a low of -8.9 degrees Celsius last year.
Located around just 20 minutes out of the centre of Glasgow by car, Paisley is known for its yearly festive celebrations. Paisley’s Christmas, based in the town centre, features an ice rink, funfair, and more.
Elsewhere, Renfrew in Renfrewshire and St Andrews in Fife also hit lows of -8.9 degrees Celsius last winter. If you are planning to visit either town for a bit of Christmas shopping, make sure to wrap up warm.
Following behind as the next coldest destinations in Scotland are Dundee and Inverness. According to the experts, both cities saw temperatures as low as -8.6 degrees Celsius during winter 2023.
On the other hand, Aberdeen was named as the warmest winter destination in Scotland. The Winter Report states that the Granite City experienced lows of -4.2 degrees Celsius last year.
Meanwhile, Glasgow, Glenrothes, Rutherglen, Bishopbriggs, and Kirkintilloch are all the next warmest places in Scotland over the winter. All destinations hit lows of -5.7 degrees Celsius last year.
The Winter Report states: “As winter approaches, the chill in the air is a familiar reminder of what’s to come. Drawing from last year’s data on the coldest temperatures recorded, our digital PR agency and Green Leaf Garden Buildings have created our Winter Report, which offers a detailed forecast of the regions that are most likely to be the coolest during the upcoming winter period.
“Whether you’re preparing your home or business for the winter months ahead, our insights will help you get prepared for the coldest season of them all.”
