An Edinburgh-bound Delta Airlines flight from New York was forced to return to the US due to a technical issue with the plane.
Delta Airlines flight DL208 departed from John F Kennedy airport shortly before 10.20pm local time and was scheduled to land at Edinburgh Airport at 9.45am on Monday morning.
The Boeing 767-300 had reached the Atlantic almost two hours into the journey, before it was forced to make a U-turn and return to JFK.
One passenger on board described the diversion as “an actual nightmare”, Edinburgh Live reports.
A post on X said: “apparently there was an error with one of the systems so we couldn’t cross the ocean.”
The original flight from New York to Edinburgh has now been cancelled, with passengers being booked onto later flights.
Delta Airlines has been approached for comment.
