Jane Moore has received backing from her Loose Women colleagues following a “misogyny” and “ageist” dispute that placed her in the spotlight.

A disagreement erupted on the ITV show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after she was tasked with washing up by new camp leaders Danny and Barry, a decision that left her seething. The 62-year-old television personality was given the chore alongside fellow campmate Tulisa.

It proved to be a difficult choice for camp leaders Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan, who had spent considerable time deciding who would be assigned which duties in the jungle.

Danny and Barry had contemplated whether they had allocated some of the more strenuous tasks to the male members of the group but didn’t believe Jane would object to being put on washing up duty. However, they were mistaken and tensions escalated, reports the Express.

On Monday’s (November 25) episode of Loose Women, her co-stars rallied around her, informing viewers that she is someone who “got stuck in”, which is likely why she was irritated, according to Frankie Bridge.

Judi Love concurred, stating: “Jane is just like one of these people who says ‘I’ll do whatever needs to be done’, so I think as long as she feels like that she’ll be happy but you’ve got to understand people are hungry and tired.”

Coleen added her thoughts, saying: “I think that’s the main thing, the hunger, the boredom and the tiredness. I think Jane’s not one to handle boredom at all because like you said she wants to be up and doing stuff.”

The former chart topper added: “And you can see because every time they come up with who’s doing the trial you can see she’s the only one when she’s not picked goes ‘ahhh’ and that’s genuine.”

In the jungle, after Danny and Barry announced that two female campmates had been chosen for the washing up, Jane exclaimed: “Oh what? Is that because we’re women?”

Trying to defuse the situation, Barry intervened to explain the reasoning behind her selection for the task, mentioning that since she was a year younger than him (62), he thought a less strenuous activity might be more suitable.

Jane, however, was not placated by this explanation and shot back: “So ageist and sexist.” Oti Mabuse, ex-Strictly star, commented: “You could cut the tension with a knife.” Later in the show, Jane was seen venting to The Voice star Danny, revealing that she had begged him earlier not to assign her any cleaning duties.

She raged: “Those were my last words as you walked past me, ‘please not cleaning’, and you’ve given me cleaning.” She clarified further: “I’m not upset, I’m just saying it’s women doing the washing up again.”

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the hosts, seemed taken aback by Jane’s remarks, and did not necessarily concur with her assertions. They seemed to show support for both Barry and Danny. Ant remarked: “I think she is being a bit unfair by saying it’s sexist and ageist. I think they were just trying to do a good job in allocating fairly, if I’m honest.”

Dec concurred: “Yes, I agree. I feel for Barry, he was only trying to do his best.” Ant then chimed in with: “Poor little Barry.” The presenters seemed amused that tensions were rising in the camp, noting it was “good to have a little bit of tetchiness in there.”

Ant observed: “I am not surprised as it’s always about the chores. It’s always around the leader and who they give the chores to. It’s either that or the cooking.”

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1, from 12:30pm.
