FESTUS, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) – A first-grade teacher is being called a hero after saving a student choking on candy.
Major Loggins was choking on a piece of hard candy when another student, Logan Bingham, noticed something was wrong and told the teacher.
Rachel Duncan-Anderson performed the Heimlich maneuver and other compressions until the candy was dislodged.
“Without their teamwork and fast thinking, this story could have had a very different ending. Thankfully, Major is doing just fine today!” the school district posted on social media.
Major’s mom said she will be “forever grateful” for Duncan-Anderson’s quick action.
