This Morning viewers were in for a surprise during Monday’s show as the usual presenting duo had a change up. The regular anchor Cat Deeley was seen sharing the screen with Andi Peters at the start of the week.
With her typical partner Ben Shephard off filming a new reality game show, Cat has been hosting This Morning alongside favourites Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. However, this time around, it was Andi who stepped in to co-host.
The pair found themselves on the receiving end of a mild rebuke from celebrity chef Phil Vickery. As the programme neared its conclusion, the seasoned chef was showcasing his tips on preparing and freezing festive food ahead of Christmas Day.
Phil moved on to discuss stuffing, declaring: “I love sausage, meat and stuffing.” As Andi sampled some of the food Phil prepared earlier, he chimed in with his approval, adding: “I love stuffing!”
Cat, however, couldn’t resist snickering at the comment, which sounded more risque than intended. Her laughter prompted chuckles from behind the camera, only dawning on Andi after what he had unwittingly implied, reports the Mirror.
An apparently unamused Phil questioned the point of his efforts, scolding: “Why do I bother? Why do I bother? It’s such childish humour.” However, Andi was quick to assert his innocence, saying he’d not done a thing wrong.
A bashful Cat admitted with a hushed tone: “I was!” During another part of the cooking demonstration, Phil gave a piece of culinary advice that Cat didn’t quite agree with. He remarked: “Golden rule on Christmas Day, do not have a drink until the turkey is on the table. Trust me, it will go wrong.”
While Cat quipped in response to his festive tip: “Boring, boring! Make a list Phil and just tick it off.” The banter didn’t stop there, as Jeff Brazier also took a playful dig at Andi during the episode.
Normally seen jet-setting around the world as the ITV competition correspondent, Andi is anchoring This Morning this week, prompting Jeff Brazier to take up the globe-trotting baton and head to Austria.
Addressing Jeff over a live feed, Andi said: “If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, Jeff Brazier has gone in search of some snow. Jeff, good morning! It looks glorious where you are!”
To which Jeff retorted: “Morning Cat and Andi. Andi don’t worry, I’ll do the cold ones!” The jesting sent the two hosts into hysterics of laughter after Cat declared: “That was brilliant!”
This Morning audiences didn’t hold back voicing their opinions on the fresh Andi and Cat duo, presenting diverse viewpoints. A viewer posted: “Andi is a bit over the top for a gloomy Monday morning.”
Whilst another commented: “This Andi Peter and Cat Deeley partnership looks like a recipe for disaster, I don’t think Cat fancies Andi Peter’s as a co-presenter. Andi Peters and Rochelle is the best partnership on this morning.”
While some viewers enjoyed the pairing of Andi and Cat, one fan noted: “Their energy is better matched.” Another chimed in with: “No, I am not new, but I actually like Andi Peters.”
