I’m A Celebrity fans have erupted in outrage over a campmate they’ve labelled as “selfish” and “annoying”, calling for them to be booted off the show first.
In Sunday’s episode of the hit ITV reality series filmed in Australia and fronted by telly duo Ant and Dec, there was quite a stir in camp when Tulisa Constostavlos and Corrie favourite Alan Halsall relinquished their regal roles as leaders, passing the torch to McFly frontman Danny Jones and boxing icon Barry McGuigan.
This switch-up meant Tulisa and Alan had to vacate the luxurious Leaders’ Lodge and join the other celebs sleeping in the less comfy jungle quarters.
After picking a cosy spot near the campfire, Tulisa sternly advised Radio 1’s Dean McCullogh to skip any early morning musical theatre renditions.
But Monday’s instalment saw Dean ensuring that everyone, particularly Tulisa, woke to a chorus of musical theatre tunes. He said: “Now that she’s out of the Leaders’ Lodge, Tulisa has warned me that there must be no musical theatre early in the morning, so I made it my mission to make sure the camp woke up this morning with the sound of lovely singing!” reports the Express.
Tulisa might have appeared to brush the incident off with good humour, but the audience was having none of it, taking to social media to express their annoyance with demands swirling for Dean’s swift departure from the jungle.
One said: “Such an iconic lineup being spoiled by Dean and Dean only” (completed with a giphy screaming ‘I need him out’).
Another person vented: “I would get up and punch him In the face! ” while another seethed: “Can’t wait for Dean to be out first! ! ! ” A fourth frustrated viewer described him as “selfish” and another charged him with doing “everything he can to annoy other campmates”.
Another highlighted Dean’s “two-faced” behaviour following an incident where he snapped at Alan, who had quietly woken him for some chores.
Meanwhile, Monday saw new arrival Maura Higgins celebrate her 34th birthday within the camp, while Dean tackled his sixth Bushtucker Trial, titled Jack and the Scream Stalks – achieving a personal best.
The trial offered 12 numbered stars for the taking, which Dean had to capture sequentially, all under a strict 12-minute timeframe. His challenge commenced with a climb up the infamous beanstalk, snagging stars along the ascent.
Reaching the beanstalk’s summit, the highest point of the trial, Dean was tasked with gathering and piecing together the golden egg, before advancing to the castle to collect the remaining stars.
Predictably, the endeavour was peppered with a myriad of hell holes yet, defying previous performances, Dean succeeded in rounding up 10 of the 12 possible stars, topping his previous records.
