A Perthshire firm which had Scots in stirtches over over its hilariously rude name is set to spread laughter to the nation’s football fans after unveiling advertising boarding at Premiership outfit St Johnstone.
The septic tank emptying company’s van was snapped entering the town of Callander – displaying the full name Shyte Shifters Waste Management.
Now the Perth firm has announced that it has taken out advertising signage in the East Stand at the club’s McDiarmid Park home for the next two years.
Sharing photos of the new board on social media, they said: “Finally can say that Shyte Shifters are happy to have signage up at St Johnstone Football Club for the next two years. If you see the board feel free to tag away would be appreciated.”
The snap of the van entering Callander was shared online and was liked more than 24,000 times, with 1,400 comments under it.
One person posted: “I’ve seen this too. Had to have a second look to check I was seeing right. Love it. Best yet.”
After going viral, the firm took to social media, posting: “Thanks to everyone for the tags today with one of our vans going viral. A year and a bit ago I was told the name was “shyte” by folk and it wouldn’t work.
“Glad everyone enjoys the name and if it can put a smile on people’s faces I have done my job thank you. You made an old man happy.”
The company’s website adds more fun, proclaiming ‘Who you gonna call? Shyte Shifters!’ – complete with a cartoon image of a man dressed as a Ghostbuster.
The company lists KFC, Royal Mail and Forestry and Land Scotland among its clients.
