A woman mysteriously vanished whilst on a “bucket list trip” after landing at an international airport. Hannah Kobayashi disappeared after she arrived at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, sparking a manhunt during which her dad tragically took his own life.
The 31-year-old had jetted to the mainland of the USA from her Hawaii home. The aspiring photographer, from Maui, was bound for New York for a dream trip.
She is said to have sent strange texts to loved ones – including one to a friend in which she claimed she had discovered a “spiritual awakening”. CCTV footage since her disappearance has shown her being escorted by an unknown male.
The evidence led to fears that Hannah had been abducted or trafficked. At the time she was heading to New York to see her aunt. On November 9, she told her relative that she was struggling to get a connecting flight and described the situation as a “nightmare”. The Mirror reports.
Hannah’s devastated family shared a heartbreaking public statement and urged the public to keep their focus on finding the woman. The post was reportedly made to the “Help Us Find Hannah” Facebook page on Monday. It comes after Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi took his own life whilst tirelessly searching for his daughter.
“The family of Hannah Kobayashi is urgently pleading with the public to maintain focus on the search for her,” read the statement. “Hannah IS still actively missing and is believed to be in imminent danger. It is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant in their efforts to locate Hannah.”
The family added: “The Kobayashi family endured a devastating tragedy today. After tirelessly searching throughout Los Angeles for 13 days, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life. This loss has compounded the family’s suffering immeasurably.
“What the family needs most in this difficult time is for all communities to rally around them with support, compassion, and prayers. Please be considerate with your comments and posts.
“The trauma they are enduring is profound, and they now face the additional burden of grieving the loss of their family’s pillar and navigating next steps.Again, it is the family wish that the public keep the focus on locating and recovering Hannah safely.
“Hannah’s last message to us was alarming — she mentioned feeling scared and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity. She hasn’t been heard from since, and we are gravely concerned for her safety.”
