SUMMERS COUNTY, W.Va. -It’s nothing but buckets for first responders in Summers County as police officers and firefighters face off on the hardwood.

The game will take place on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Summers County Middle School gym at 400 Temple Street in Hinton.

The “Donut Eaters” are facing off against the “Hose Draggers” in the inaugural Battle of the Badges basketball game. The event is free to watch but donations are accepted.

Proceeds go to the “Shop with a Cop” program.

“We want to find and create ways that we can get the community involved to donate money and also have entertainment value in it as well. So, to come out and watch a basketball game, a bunch of out of shape, middle aged guys playing basketball, we couldn’t think of a better way to have that entertainment value and also potentially raise money for the cause,” says Tim Adkins, Chief Deputy of the Summers County Sheriffs Department.

The goal is to raise $5,000 for children in need.
