James Haskell has candidly discussed his personal life and the breakdown of his marriage to his ex-wife, Chloe Madeley, 37.

The ex-couple got hitched in 2018 and welcomed a daughter, Bodhi, in 2022, before parting ways last year. James, 39, unveiled the true reason behind their split and also delved into his past controversies.

The former rugby union professional confessed that his relationship with Chloe was simply “not working”, leading to their separation. He stated that he never intended to break up with Chloe and did his utmost to salvage the marriage before accepting its end, the Mirror reports.

Despite their differences, James didn’t shy away from praising his former spouse. He portrayed her as intelligent and “utterly brilliant,” and lauded her for being an excellent mother to their child.

The ex-I’m a Celebrity contestant also touched on his current dating situation, but refrained from revealing any significant details.

James merely pointed out that despite occasionally being snapped with women, he’s “not dating any of them,” hinting that he might still be single following his split from Chloe. After discussing his romantic life, James shifted the conversation to a more contentious subject.

In his teenage years, he was suspended from his prestigious school, Wellington College, after getting embroiled in a sex tape scandal.

Speaking of the incident, he said: “My friend was sleeping with a girl. He asked me if I had a camera. I said, ‘Yeah.’ We set it up in a cupboard. Obviously, that was wrong.

“One of our classmates sold the story and then we were on the front pages. Would I do it again? No. But it’s difficult as a 17-year-old in a boarding school because you just think something will be funny”.

James told The Times that his involvement in the scandal was more “stupid” than rebellious, acknowledging that he had a “pretty privileged” upbringing.

Decades removed from his youthful indiscretion, James spoke about the possibility of returning to reality TV. He’s turned down Strictly Come Dancing over concerns that the ‘Strictly curse’ could affect his marriage to Chloe, yet he remains open to other television opportunities.

He said: “I would definitely do reality TV again. I’d be really keen to do it. I just think some of the formats have been done to death now and I would like to do something that was slightly different.

“Loads of rugby players have done Strictly and I just think it’s a bit of a minefield at the moment with everything that’s going on there. I’d love to do Celebrity SAS. I’m just a massive show off and performer”.
