Fox News’ Laura Ingraham is half-heartedly walking back her show’s conflation of two prominent Black women on-air Monday night: Fani Willis, the Georgia prosecutor in President-elect Trump’s election interference case and New York attorney general Letitia James.
The controversial conservative host, 61, didn’t reference the racist undertones of the mix-up, instead suggesting “The Ingraham Angle” had merely mixed up two women who “both hate Trump.”
“Earlier in the ‘Angle,’ we accidentally showed a graphic that had a photo of another vicious anti-Trump figure, Letitia James, when we were talking about Fani Willis,” Ingraham said Monday. “So that was our mistake, but they both hate Trump.”
The error occurred when Ingraham was previously referring to the multiple “fraudulent” cases against Trump.
“History’s gonna remember Jack Smith and Alvin Bragg, Fani Willis and the judges who let these cases get as far as they did, as modern day Keystone Cops, who chased Trump around, hounding him, trying to keep him off the campaign trail because they hated his agenda. They hate everything he stands for,” said Ingraham, showing a graphic of James.
A judge on Monday agreed to drop all federal charges against Trump in his election interference case, which was indefinitely put on hold in June over Willis’ romantic relationship with her top prosecutor, Nathan Wade.
It’s not the first time Ingraham’s show or Fox at large have found themselves in such a position.
Earlier in 2024, Ingraham’s show reportedly referenced Wade but instead showed a photo of Terrence Bradley, his former divorce lawyer. Both are Black men.
In 2018, the network paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin with an image of Patti LaBelle.
