Scotland’s “most attractive” streets have been named in a new list.
All over the country, there are countless roads and lanes that are extra-beautiful for one reason or another. Whether it is because of their green space or their fancy-looking shops and houses, they are just nicer to walk along.
A new study conducted by SellHouseFast.co.uk revealed the best-looking streets in the UK after asking 1,000 people to rank images of roads based on factors such as their aesthetics, appeal to families, and how expensive they think the houses are. Coming in at number one for the whole of the UK is Hawthornbank Lane in Edinburgh.
Situated in the Scottish capital’s historic Dean Village, Hawthornbank Lane is located just five minutes away from Princes Street. Despite its close proximity to the centre of Edinburgh, the street is known for its quiet atmosphere and lush views.
According to the experts, 33.8 per cent of respondents named Hawthornbank Lane as the most attractive in the UK. The street runs along the Water of Leith river that flows through Edinburgh, benefitting from picturesque views out over the water.
Meanwhile, Hawthornbank Lane features the iconic Dean Village View Point. From here, you can take spectacular photographs of the neighbourhood.
Elsewhere, the only other Scottish street to be included among the 10 “most attractive” in the UK is Quay Street in Portree on the Isle of Skye. Placing at number five on the UK-wide list, 27.1 per cent of respondents singled it out.
Dating back to the 19th century, Quay Street runs parallel to the coastal town’s pier. It features a row of colourful houses and buildings that feature vivid hues of pink, green, and yellow.
Walking along the road, you are treated to spectacular views out across the water. Quay Street is also home to top food spots such as the Pier Hotel Restaurant and seafood specialists Sea Breezes.
