Annabel Giles, who sadly passed away on November 20 last year at the age of 64, left a staggering sum to her two children, despite not having a will.
The former I’m a Celebrity contestant was diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma, an aggressive and malignant brain tumour, in July 2023. She underwent numerous radiotherapy treatments and brain surgery but tragically succumbed to the illness.
She is survived by her daughter and son.
Annabel’s daughter, Molly, was born in March 1987. The actress had Molly with her ex-husband, Ultravox frontman Midge Ure, to whom she was married between 1985 and 1989.
In addition to Molly, Annabel had a younger son, Ted, born in 1998, whose father Annabel did not publicly disclose, reports the Mirror.
After Annabel’s passing, Molly and Ted inherited over £400,000 from their mother’s estate, as reported by The Sun. Court documents revealed that Annabel’s estate was valued at £769,000 at the time of her death.
After deductions, the remaining amount – a substantial £430,320 – was distributed to her children.
Despite not having a will or declaration of intent, the High Court ruled on Monday that the money should be given to her children. Following their mother’s death, Molly and Ted expressed their love for her, shared details of her passing and paid an emotional tribute to the public figure.
The family of Annabel Giles, a beloved mother and TV personality, shared a moving tribute after she succumbed to cancer at Martlets Hospice in Hove. Announcing her passing, they stated: “It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our incredible mother, Annabel Giles, who passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at Martlets Hospice in Hove. In July, Mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly aggressive malignant brain tumour.”
They recalled how, after her diagnosis, Annabel showed formidable courage: “In the four months that followed, she displayed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing brain surgery and countless radiotherapies. In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness for Glioblastoma, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others.”
Her children praised their mum’s indomitable spirit and generosity: “Mum was truly one of a kind, an enigma to those privileged to share her life,” they continued in their statement, articulating, “True to her nature, she kept spirits high and maintained her quick wit until the very end. Her humour and laughter will leave us inspired to live life to the fullest, just as she always did.”
Finally, Molly and Ted Giles lovingly requested donations to Martlets Hospice in lieu of other tributes: “We thank you for your love and support and kindly request that you respect our privacy at this challenging time. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we would be grateful for donations to Martlets Hospice, whose exceptional care was a great source of comfort throughout this journey. With heartfelt thanks, Molly and Ted x.”
