Around 100 firefighters are battling a horror blaze this morning at a takeaway restaurant and the flats above it.

The firefighters raced to the fire at the Holloway, north London, takeaway as the whole of the ground floor of the building on Seven Sisters Road was alight by 6am. The London Fire Brigade have also confirmed that half of the ground floor, as well as part of two flats on the first and second floors are still ablaze, reports the Mirror.

The first calls came in at 3.45am, with crews from Holloway, Kentish Town, Islington, Euston and surrounding fire stations attending the scene. Around 20 calls have been made to London Fire Brigade in connection with the blaze.

Station Commander Mike Watts, who is at the scene, said: “There are road closures in place and we urge people to avoid the area, particularly as we head into rush hour, due to congestion in the area.

“The fire is producing a lot of smoke in the vicinity and local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed while we work to bring the fire under control.”

Although the cause of the fire is not known, investigators will begin examining the site once the fire is brought under control.
