North Lanarkshire residents have been left “unsettled” after a hooded man was seen appearing to try doors in the dead of night.
The crook was caught on doorbell camera footage attempting to gain entry to at least two homes on Braehead Road, in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld, at around 11pm on Tuesday. In the clip the man, who is wearing a black hood and a blue jacket, can be seen trying to open one door without success before moving on to the next.
Craig Casey, who has lived in the area for nine years, has advised locals to “keep your door locked at all times” following the frightening incident.
He told Glasgow Live: “I’d basically just gone to bed and didn’t see the notification for around 20 minutes. Once I saw what had happened I went out and had a look around but couldn’t see the person. I’ve lived here for nine years so it’s quite unsettling for this to happen now.
“I only put the doorbell camera up a few months ago and now I keep my door locked at all times. I’d highly recommend everyone else does the same, especially at this time of year. My neighbours have young kids and the factors of the flats must do more to ensure the safety of their residents.”
The incident is understood to have been reported to Police Scotland. The force have been asked for comment.
