Location, Location, Location star Phil Spencer has inherited £18million from his parents. His mother Anne Spencer, 82, and father Richard, 89, tragically died in a car accident in Kent in August 2023 while on their way to a pub lunch.

Probate documents reveal that the late couple’s wealth will be divided among Phil, his elder brother Robert, and younger sisters Caryn and Helen. The wills of Anne and Richard were made public this week, with Richard leaving £15.3million and Anne £2.9million.

Richard, better known by his middle name David, had his will drawn up in 2007. Each of his eight grandchildren have been left £10,000, and a donation of £20,000 has been made to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

According to The Sun, David’s remaining fortune was placed in a trust for his two sons. Anne signed her will in 2021, leaving £500 gifts to a niece and nephew in Canada, as well as her godson.

She also planned for an estate donation to go to her local church and specified that her jewellery should be shared among her daughters, granddaughters, and daughters-in-law, reports the Mirror.

Last year, Phil, 54, opened up about the loss of his parents shortly after it happened, sharing with his followers that his family was “holding onto the fact mum and dad went together” and finding solace in the thought that “neither will ever have to mourn the loss of the other one”.

Recently, the presenter has spoken more deeply about the painful event and expressed his heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support. “I feel a lot of gratitude to people for the thousands of kind, supportive messages I got. The whole thing was overwhelming, but that blew me away. People were very loving and thoughtful,” he said with emotion.

Reflecting on the statement he made in August 2023, Phil explained that he chose to share it on social media to “avoid the trauma of explaining it all”.

In his original post, Phil had written: “As a family we are all trying to hold onto the fact Mum and Dad went together and that neither will ever have to mourn the loss of the other one. Which is a blessing in itself. Although they were both on extremely good form in the days before (hence the sudden idea to go out to lunch) Mums Parkinson’s and Dads Dementia had been worsening and the long term future was set to be a challenge.‌”So much so that mum said to me only a week ago that she had resigned to thinking ‘now it looks like we will probably go together’.

“And so they did. That was what God had planned for them – and it was a good plan.

“The car, going very slowly, toppled over a bridge on the farm drive, upside down into the river. There were no physical injuries and I very much doubt they would have even fought it – they would have held hands under the water and quietly slipped away.

‌”Their carer was in the car and managed to climb out of a back window so the alarm was raised quite quickly. As many farmers do – my brother had a penknife and so was able to cut the seat belts – he pulled them out of the river but they never regained consciousness. Although desperately sad and shocked beyond all belief – all family are clear that if there can ever be such a thing as having a ‘good end’ – this was it.”

Phil added: “It feels horrendous right now, but after almost 60 years of marriage – to die together on the farm they so loved will, I know, be a comfort in the future. Mum and Dad are together which is precisely where they would have wanted to be.”

Phil’s reps have been contacted for comment.
