A man has been arrested after a vehicle crashed into a police car, leaving officers in a chase smashing into a fence. On Wednesday at around 9.20pm a silver Vauxhall Astra sped off after allegedly hitting the cop car on St Clair Street in Kirkcaldy.

Police pursued the vehicle which then crashed into a fence on Dunnikier Way, near Asda Kirkcaldy. A 41-year-old man was arrested near the scene in connection with road traffic offences and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector James Henry, from Fife Road Policing, said: “Around 9.20pm on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, a silver Vauxhall Astra made off following a collision with a police vehicle on St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy. A short pursuit took place, resulting in the Astra crashing on Dunnikier Way.

“A 41-year-old man was arrested near the scene in connection with road traffic offences. He will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
