Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Scarlette Douglas has expressed her excitement at potentially seeing more of Dean McCullough’s fiery nature on the show and even tips him as a potential winner.
BBC Radio 1’s Dean has been the most talked about contestant on the series so far due to his frequent Bushtucker Trials and mild spats with fellow campmates regarding chores.
In the latest instalment, the 32-year-old DJ faced criticism from others in camp after he disclosed his reluctance to be responsible for the water supply, alongside Melvin Odoom. He also previously irritated Tulisa Contostavlos by singing around her early in the morning, despite her requests not to.
Scarlette, 37, who competed on the 2022 series, anticipates that viewers will witness more of Dean’s feisty side as the programme progresses and a potential clash with Tulisa. Speaking to Reach PLC via Sky Vegas, she said: “He’s got all this extra energy and with Tulisa, you can see that they are complete opposites in terms of their energy.
“She’s really chilled and doesn’t even speak at a high pace or a high pitch. She’s just as it is, and I can see [an argument] coming at some point.”
Should a clash between the pair happen however, Scarlette believes it’ll be over in no time.
She added: “There are going to be disagreements and we will see his spicy side for sure – I’m looking forward to it!”
Addressing suggestions that the same person should be banned from doing all the trials, Scarlette disagrees with imposing such a restriction.
“When Dean was first going in there, it was terrible – but now he’s just doing so much better,” she said. “We can see how people overcome their fears, and it is a good show for exactly that – to show you that no matter what you will get there if you put your mind to it.”
Scarlette is tipping either Dean or Maura Higgins for the win, attributing it to their personalities and air-time presence. “Maura and Dean together are just great fun,” she continued. “I could see it being those two who make it to the end.
“Dean is getting a lot of air-time and he is funny doing the trials, so he is going to keep getting voted.
“He could at least be in the final three – he’d be hilarious. I’m putting him in as my winner – I would like him to win the show.”
Meanwhile, she suspects Melvin Odoom might be the first contestant to leave, noting he’s “not had enough chances to show his personality as of yet”.
Tonight, Dean is lined up for another trial called The Rank Bank, where he’ll join Danny Jones and Alan Halsall in a bid to secure stars.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
