Prince William’s uncle, Charles Spencer, has shared his thoughts on Richard Cole’s stint on I’m A Celebrity. He succinctly stated: ” He wants to win.”
Richard is currently a contestant on the popular ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity, and since stepping into the Australian jungle, he has quickly won over viewers.
As Richard grapples with the challenges of jungle life, his close friend and podcast co-host, Earl Charles Spencer, made an appearance on Thursday’s (November 28) episode of Lorraine. Naturally, the conversation soon turned to I’m A Celeb.
The ninth Earl Spencer, aged 60, confessed that Richard isn’t great at keeping secrets, so he was aware of his upcoming appearance on the ITV reality show.
Discussing Richard’s biggest fear, he revealed: “I saw him the day he was voted out of Strictly, and he couldn’t tell me, but I asked him how things were going. He looked really sad, and he said, ‘Let’s just say I’ve got more time on my hands than I wanted.'”
Charles further commented: “I think Richard’s biggest fear is generally to be voted off early because he loves people and he loves people liking him.
“I believe he can handle the trials because he is up for this, but I must say Richard is highly competitive and beneath it all, he will want to win and be King of the jungle.”
He added: “Whatever he does, he does it well. I remember when he said that he was doing this I asked him about the food trial, he responded ‘well I love my food’ and he does, so I don’t know how he is managing that.”
In a moving segment of the show, Richard teamed up with ex-Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse as they shared personal stories that tugged at the heartstrings. Oti recounted the experience of her first child’s birth, who arrived 10 weeks too soon, reports the Mirror.
She related to Richard that, at that time, she wasn’t permitted to cradle her newborn daughter, resorting instead to using her voice to bond with the little one.
Charles reflected on their touching conversation, commenting: “He was a priest near where I live, and he had a packed church every Sunday, not because he was a celebrity but because he really cared, and that is coming across on camera.”
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITVX.
