Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan have signed on to star in a new Paramount+ series from Guy Ritchie and Ronan Bennett.
The show had previously been developed with the name ‘The Donovans’, with plans to work as an across-the-pond spin-off of the Showtime series, Ray Donovan.
However, the new series has now been reworked as a standalone series and has no connections to that franchise.
The new project was previously also reported to be titled ‘The Associate’ but according to Variety, that is not the case and it’s currently an untitled project.
Production has officially begun in London, with the series aiming to debut in 2025 on Paramount+ with Showtime.
The new series reunites Tom and Guy, who previously worked together on the 2008 crime comedy film ‘Rocknrolla’.
The description of the show states that it is “centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”
Tom will play the character of Harry Da Souza who is described as a “a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family.”
Pierce will play Conrad Harrigan who is the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works for.
Meanwhile, Helen takes on the role of Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and the matriarch of the family.
Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios said: “Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are masters at their craft and we are honored to have them lead the cast for Guy Richie’s new global, original series.”
Fans have been reacting to the exciting casting update with one person writing on Reddit: “Well that’s a pretty great cast.”
Another fan expressed: “I am all in for something like this though. Love British crime dramas and this cast with Richie will be amazing.”
Somebody else commented: “Pierce Brosnan in a Guy Ritchie production? Count me interested.”
Yet another wrote: “I’m looking forward to all the sharp attire Ritchie and costume department gonna design for Brosnan.”
A fifth said: “Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as a married couple is a lot of class and charisma with Ritchie’s normally reliable dialogue?
“Hardy just puts it over the top but I was hoping he was going to get in on that Peaky Blinders movie.”
While a sixth excited Reddit user added: “One hell of a cast, but Tom Hardy really is the cherry on top.”
