(Gray News) – Former longtime anchor Dan Rather is mourning the death of his wife, Jean Rather, according to post made on his verified Facebook account.
She died from cancer at the age of 89.
“She had been in hospice care for some time, but the news still comes as a shock for those of us who knew and loved her,” the post read.
Jean Rather died Tuesday in Austin, Texas surrounded by her family, friends and her artwork.
According to her obituary, Jean was an accomplished artist with her paintings and collages shown in galleries and private collections across the country.
“Jean lived a full life as an incredible wife, mother, friend, and artist — and a true Texan,” the Facebook post added.
She and Dan Rather shared 67 years of marriage together.
