St Mirren Charitable Foundation is supporting the Buddies women’s team by becoming their official training kit sponsor.
In an official launch held at the SMiSA Stadium, the players showcased the foundation’s backing. Kate Cooper’s Buddies have been enjoying life in Barclays SWF League One this season and currently sit at the top of the table.
They have spent nine consecutive weeks at the summit after a number of impressive displays. The team also played a league game against Kilwinning Ladies in front of hundreds of fans at the SMiSA with many of the players performing there for the first time.
Head Coach Cooper says that support for the women’s game is growing but partnerships such as this one with the foundation help players feel valued.
“We are absolutely thrilled by the commitment the St Mirren Charitable Foundation has made to the women and girls academy by becoming our official training kit sponsor,” she told the Paisley Daily Express.
“They have given the players a real sense of identity as well as further connection to the the St Mirren football family.
“Support for women’s and girls’ football is always challenging and having a partnership like this with the foundation helps us ensure the players feel seen and valued as both individuals and female footballers.
“Everyone had such a fantastic night and we want to express our gratitude to the charitable foundation for their ongoing support.”
Margaret Fraser, chairperson of the charitable foundation, added: “The trustees of the foundation are delighted to support this important part of the St Mirren family by becoming the official training kit sponsor of the women’s football club and girls academy.
“There was a real buzz around the stadium last night as the kits were launched with their families in attendance. We applaud the passion and dedication of the players across age groups, and it is clear that St Mirren’s pathway to football is going from strength to strength.”
