The family of TV medical expert Dr Michael Mosley are facing a new anxious wait for answers surrounding his mysterious Greek island death.

The health expert who specialised in weight loss, was enjoying a family holiday on the island of Symi when he vanished in sweltering head in early June this year.

The celebrity doc was spending the day at Agios Nikolaos beach on the holiday resort with his wife, Dr Claire Bailey Mosley, and friends on June 5, when he decided to go for a walk. However he failed to return, sparking a frantic search by rescue crews and local volunteers, The Mirror reports.

Despite a four day hunt, his body was discovered in a rugged area not far from where they stayed in Agia Marina. Dr Mosley’s wife confirmed that her husband attempted an “incredible, climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen,” before his body was tragically found.

Authorities in Greece said his death was a result of natural causes. However an inquest into his death is due to be held by the Buckinghamshire coroner in Britain. At the time of the doctor’s death, Greek police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou reported no evidence of injury on his body to suggest an alternative cause of death.

It was said then that early post-mortem analysis suggested Dr Mosley passed away around 4pm on the day he vanished, just hours after leaving the beach at around 1.30pm, reports Wales Online. The temperature at the time had soared to near 40C.

Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court initially announced that an inquest into the death would be held on November 14 at 2pm. This date has now been rescheduled for January 16 at 12.40pm.

A notice on Buckinghamshire Coroner’s website gave the new date and time with a simple notification which says: “Michael Hugh Mosley. Died 5 June 2024 in Greece. Home address, Beaconsfield. Aged 67 years.”

Dr. Mosley, widely recognised for his dietary and weight loss expertise, made a massive impact through his TV shows, podcasts, and bestselling books on diet plans. His plans included The Fast 800, 5:2, The Way of Life, and The Fast 800 Keto.
