If you’re looking to get your hands on a smartwatch in the Black Friday sales, then one I wear ever single day is now on offer for 20 percent less on Amazon.
Let’s face it, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone without one of these modern day devices on the wrist. However, with the likes of Apple and Fitbit being a little out of my budget, I had to look for something a little more budget-friendly.
Enter the Ruimen Smartwatch that, quite frankly, has become my “everyday companion”. While it usually only retails at £29.99, it is even cheaper at just £23.99 ahead of today’s (November 29) sales.
As someone who has never purchased a smartwatch before, I found the Ruimen to be a “decent introduction” to the nifty gadgets. After trialling it out earlier this year, I said that the gadget was “brilliant value for money” – especially considering how much it can do.
If you’re wondering if it is the smartwatch for you, I have provided some information about what it can do, my overall thoughts and what others are saying about it.
What is the Ruimen Smartwatch?
One of the things I really liked about the Ruimen Smartwatch was its ability to do pretty much anything – which is something other reviewers have picked up on.
If you’re a fitness buff, there are over 100 sports modes to choose from. I said in my review: “As a regular gym-goer and runner, this smartwatch came in handy for keeping track of my burned calories and heart rate during my workouts and evening runs around the park.”
While I said it “soared” as a fitness companion, it can also track your heart rate, sleep pattern, emotional state and blood oxygen levels. It doesn’t just offer you insight into your daily routine and wellness from your wrist, as you can also connect it to the GloryFit app for in depth reports.
Also, despite its budget price-tag, I found that the 1.85-inch TFT high-definition full touch screen offers “sharp and clear visuals”. It was also incredibly easy to navigate, while the “buttery soft” leather strap is comfy for all-day wear.
It is worth noting that, while I went for the chic Starlight Gold colourway, you can choose from five other colours at the discounted £20.99 price – pink, purple. silver blue, silver grey and black.
What were my final thoughts on the smartwatch?
After trialling the Ruimen Smartwatch for about a week in October, I found that the Ruimen Smartwatch was not a gimmick, but instead my “new everyday companion.”
Once I had easily connected it to my smartphone, I soon found myself wearing it every single day. Since it was easy to use and navigate, it was perfect for those like myself who are smartwatch novices and looking for something that isn’t too overly complicated.
Here’s a few of my final thoughts: “While I can’t compare it to the likes of Apple, Samsung and even Fitbit, I can confirm that it is brilliant value for money and that it does what it says on the tin. It’s also easy to use and navigate, which makes it ideal for those who are novices like myself.
“Since receiving the smartwatch about a week ago, I haven’t really left the house without it. It might sound silly, but it has helped me to keep better track of my overall health and wellbeing, making it the ideal fitness partner.
“While I did prefer it for its fitness functions, I was also easily able to answer phone calls, which I could hear clearly. It’s also allowed me to keep up to date with everyday life basics such as messages, app notifications and even weather reminders – limiting the amount of time I am on my phone for such things.”
What have others thought of the Ruimen Smartwatch?
It’s not just myself that is impressed with the Ruimen Smartwatch, as it is currently an Amazon bestseller with an average 4.3 rating based on over 12,000 reviews. Overall, reviews have praised it as “top of the game”, despite its budget price-tag.
One glowing review read: “This watch is great it has all the functions of a quality smart watch at no where near the cost of certain top brands. Don’t pay for the name this watch is cheap but still top of the game. Bargain.”
Someone else added: “Absolutely brilliant watch. Just as good as an Apple Watch & for a fraction of the price well impressed.”
Of course, not everyone could be impressed. Some users have mentioned that it is a “hit or miss” due to the inconsistency, as one said: “”Looks good and easy to setup but it tells me to get up and move when I’m already moving. Receiving messages can be a bit hit and miss too.”
If you want to try the Ruimen Smartwatch for yourself, you can bag it for just £20.99 in Amazon’s Black Friday week here.
Amazon isn’t the only retailer offering deals on the modern day device, as you can get the HUAWEI Watch Fit Special Edition at Currys for £59.99, down from £69.99. Meanwhile, Wowcher has a deal that gets you a refurbished Apple Watch Series 4 for just £89, instead of £399.99.
