TOWNVILLE, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) – A father in South Carolina died while hunting with his son on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, 43-year-old Michael Rogers fell about 18 feet from a tree stand around 4:30 p.m.

Officials said his 11-year-old son started CPR on his dad before EMS personnel arrived and took him to the hospital.

Rogers died at the hospital just before 7 p.m.

The investigation indicates Rogers had recently been sick and may have fallen as a result of an underlined medical illness.

According to the coroner, Rogers suffered a neck injury when he fell that resulted in his death.
