Lanarkshire drivers are being warned of urgent resurfacing works on the M74.

Following a deterioration of the hard shoulder surface on the southbound M74 north of Junction 10, which is currently part of a contraflow for the Nethan Viaduct bridge works, a closure of the southbound M74 between Junctions 9 and 12 is being implemented to carry out urgent resurfacing works.

The road closure will ensure the safety of road users and road workers whilst the urgent works take place and during the ongoing bridge works which are being carried out into 2025.

The road will be closed between 8pm and 6am each night, until Sunday, December 1, with traffic management removed by 6am on Monday, December 2, returning to contraflow for the bridge works.

There will be a further closure between 8pm on Saturday, December 7, and 6am on Sunday, December 8, then returning to contraflow for the bridge works and resurfacing works on the northbound carriageway.

A spokesperson for Amey, who are carrying out the works, said: “During the closures a diversion will be in place with southbound traffic leaving the M74 at Junction 9 and following the B7078 to return to the motorway at Junction 12.

“We apologise for the short notice of these closures and any inconvenience caused.”
