HILLSBORO Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) – Two people were sent to the hospital after a car smashed into an ice cream shop in Oregon on Thanksgiving morning.
Authorities said they were called to Jim’s Ice Cream shop in Hillsboro around 11 a.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.
According to officials, two cars crashed near the store and the collision sent one of the vehicles into the building, hitting a man sitting at a picnic table out front.
The man ended up getting pinned under debris and reportedly suffered multiple broken bones but was recovering at the hospital.
The driver of the car that smashed into the store was also taken to the hospital while the driver of the second vehicle was checked at the scene.
First responders put up temporary supports to keep the building standing, but officials said it was uninhabitable.
Jim’s Ice Cream owner said the electric company was able to restore power to a large freezer in the back so they can salvage some of their ice cream in the store.
However, the store owners said they will have to hold their 10th-anniversary celebration plans that were planned for Sunday.
