WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander and the Outlander book series.

Outlander fans have seen the Fraser family go through plenty of turmoil but does Jamie Fraser really die in season seven?

Season seven returned for part two last week on MGM+ via Prime Video for UK fans and Starz for fans in the US, with Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Young Ian (John Bell) returning to Scotland.

Sadly, it wasn’t too long before Claire was off again to America to help perform life-saving surgeries so she and Jamie were parted.

However, in episode 10, Brotherly Love, Jamie and sister Jenny (Kristin Atherton) were going to sail to the States to join her, informing his wife of what ship he was to be on.

At the end of the episode, disaster struck as Lord John Grey (David Berry) had the heartbreaking job of telling Claire that the ship had sunk, leaving both of them distraught at the loss of their beloved Jamie.

Does Jamie die in Outlander season 7?

In the promo for episode 11, A Hundredweight of Stones, Claire is in mourning, seen sobbing on her bed with Lord John also devastated at the loss of his friend who he harbours deep feelings for.

But if the drama is to follow the plot of author Diana Gabaldon’s book series, then Jamie will not die in season seven of Outlander.

In the seventh book, An Echo In The Bone, Claire and Lord John do believe that Jamie died along with the others on board the sunken ship.

And when Claire is on the verge of being arrested for being a spy, Lord John marries her in a bid to protect her.

The pair help each other through their grief and on one particularly emotional evening in the novel, they consummate their marriage.

They are both then shocked when Jamie shows up at their home alive and well, as he and Jenny had missed the first ship that had sunk and got on board the next.

So, if the show does strictly stick to the Outlander book series’ plot, how will Jamie react when he finds out Claire had remarried and been intimate with Lord John?

Outlander season seven, part two, continues every Friday on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and Starz in the US.
