AUSTIN, Texas — A search is underway for a suspect after a University of Texas at Austin student was robbed Thursday night.
UT police say a woman was walking near new student housing on Comal Street in East Campus when a man on a bicycle approached her.
The woman reported that she was knocked to the ground and threatened before having her bag taken. She also told police the man left the area after the robbery and didn’t appear to have a weapon.
Details on the suspect’s description are limited, but police say he wore a red beanie with a dark jacket, dark pants and white shoes during the incident. He also appeared to be riding a white or silver bicycle.
UT police urge students and staff to prioritize their safety and stay alert of their surroundings while on campus.
