Tameria Barnett, 20, was arrested and charged with injury to a child after the victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
HOUSTON — A little girl remains in critical condition after being beaten by a friend of her mother’s, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
HCSO was notified after the 4-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Investigators determined she’d been beaten and she was transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Gonzalez said the victim had been left in the care of Tameria Barnett, 20, when her mother went to prison.
Barnett was arrested on Friday and charged with injury to a child.
According to court documents, Barnett had beaten the victim for months with a belt, a cord and her hands.
She remains in the Harris County Jail.
