I’m A Celebrity contestant Dean McCullough has been put through his paces in the Australian jungle, facing more public-voted trials than any other campmate. Despite his efforts, the Radio 1 DJ seems unlikely to garner support when it comes to them voting for the title of King or Queen of the jungle.
With Sunday’s second elimination looming, latest odds suggest Dean is the next likely to leave, following Jane Moore.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes have placed Dean at the lowest odds of winning the 2024 series, at 200/1. On the flip side, Danny Jones is the favourite with narrowing competition, as Coleen Rooney’s chances surge to 2/1, edging closer to Danny’s leading 5/6 odds.
All other contenders are trailing with odds of 8/1 or greater, with Richard Coles (8/1) and Maura Higgins (10/1) barely holding front-runner positions; others lag further behind at 28/1 or more.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati remarked: “Punters are convinced the race for this year’s I’m A Celebrity crown is now down to just two names, with Danny and Coleen storming ahead in the betting,” reports the Express.
This update follows Ant and Dec announcing on Saturday’s show there’d be no elimination that evening, leading to speculation among viewers of a ‘fix’ to keep Dean in the competition for another day.
Some viewers have voiced their dissatisfaction with Ant and Dec’s announcement of no eviction on a recent episode, left frustrated that Dean remained in the camp. One fan lamented: “Well Ant and Dec have annoyed me already.. no vote out today? ! Dean needs to go #ImACeleb,” while another accused: “Seems a bit of a fix from the producers to keep Dean in at least another 2 days. It’s like they want him to stay, because I swear they reopened the vote last night? #ImACeleb.”
Dean, who has taken part in the most Bushtucker trials often saying “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here! ” during them, has not made himself popular with campmates due to his behaviour.
While Tulisa Contostavlos and Alan Halsall gave up their roles as camp leadersand with Tulisa specifically requesting no singing in the morningsDean outright defied her, proudly stating in the Bush Telegraph: “Now that she’s out of the Leaders’ Lodge, Tulisa has warned me that there must be no musical theatre early in the morning, so I made it my mission to make sure the camp woke up this morning with the sound of lovely singing.”
Viewers didn’t take kindly to Dean’s antics, comparing it unfavourably to his response when Alan tried to wake him previously.
A viewer expressed their frustration on X, saying: “Dean’s stolen beds, left the camp starving all week, yelled at Alan for nothing, and ignored Tulisa’s wishes. At this point, does Dean bring anything to the table?”
