COAL CITY, W.Va. – After an emotional week for the No. 3 seed Independence Patriots they suited up to take on the No. 6 seed Philip Barbour Colts in the Class AA quarterfinals on Saturday.

It took a little bit for the Patriots to get going to start, trailing 10-0 in the second quarter. However, the Patriots’ offense would quickly heat up in the below-freezing temperatures, outscoring the Colts 49-7 from there to win 49-17. Independence will travel to No. 2 seed Roane County at 7 p.m. Friday.
