The highly anticipated film, Carry-On, is set to hit Netflix soon and has already been dubbed the next ‘Die Hard’ by eager fans. The film is a product of a deal struck in 2021 between Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners and the streaming giant to produce multiple films.

Carry-On, penned by T. J.Fixman, was slated to be the first film from this partnership, with an estimated budget of $47million according to Fastlane.

The plot centres around Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who finds himself blackmailed by a passenger into allowing a dangerous package through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. The film’s director, Jaume Collet-Serra, is known for his expertise in crafting such thrillers.

Speaking to Tudum, he said: “Contained environments force us to get to know the movie’s characters very quickly and personally – we’re immediately in the thick of the story with them, which creates a genuine investment in what’s happening on-screen.”

He added: “It’s also a very exciting visual challenge as a filmmaker to come up with creative ways to shoot every inch of a small space and try to make it look different and find new details of the world in each scene.”
