I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star GK Barry’s mother, Loretta Bruce, graced Lorraine Kelly’s morning programme to share insights about her daughter’s escapades in the Australian jungle.
While chatting with the Scottish presenter 64, Loretta spoke about how the Loose Women panellist and social media star, known off-screen as Grace Keeling, had developed an unlikely friendship with co-camper Reverend Richard Coles during their time on the popular reality series.
ITV viewers have been captivated by the duo, frequently observing them engage in profound discussions around the Rev’s vocation and the experience of being openly gay. This genuine dialogue has resonated positively with audiences, who have expressed affection for the pair’s camaraderie.
Loretta wasn’t taken aback by this development, announcing that it was no surprise to her. She had already anticipated that her daughter and the Reverend would form a close-knit bond the moment she knew he’d be joining the cast, reports the Mirror.
Lorraine highlighted their bond, which has sparked public interest, remarking: “It’s been lovely to watch that friendship she’s got with the Reverend Richard Coles. They clearly have just hit it off together.”
To which Loretta confirmed: “Absolutely, do you know when I realised he was actually going to take part in the show I knew immediately that she would bond with him and he is absolutely wonderful.”
GK’s mum credited the 62-year-old, formerly of the synthpop band the Communards, with shaking up the camp dynamic – which she believed was much needed, particularly for her daughter.
Loretta praised the Reverend for helping GK in the jungle and switching up the camp dynamic – which she felt was needed. She told Lorraine: “He has actually brought her…. he has made her less nervous.”
She added: “He’s brought a sense of calm and I think it’s going to be interesting because they make a great team and he’s worked wonders for her – I’m so glad he’s joined the camp. I think he’s introduced something really important, which is a sense of calm.”
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1, from 9am and can be streamed via the hub.
