Three members of the same family have died following a horror road smash. Two women died at the scene and today it emerged that a man had also passed away.
Ralph James died as a result of the collision a month after his aunt and his cousin. The incident took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, and his family paid tribute to him today.
In a statement, they said: “He was loved by all his family and the wider community who knew him. He always had time for people and was well known.
“He lived his entire life in the Penarth area and worked at the Cardiff Docks from the age of 18. He loved spending time on holiday in the Devon and Cornwall area and spending time with his family.
“Words cannot express the loss we are presently feeling as a family. To lose so many members at one time is heartbreaking. Ralph will forever live on in our hearts and never be forgotten.”
Wales Online reports South Wales Police are continuing to investigate the crash, which happened on the A4050 near Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Police were called to the crash, which involved two vehicles, just before 1.40pm on the day in question.
Ralph’s aunt and cousin died at the scene while he and another man were taken to hospital. The road was closed for around 12 hours while officers dealt with the incident.
At the time of the crash Sergeant Craig Wood said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the two women who have died in this collision. We are in the early stages of our investigation and are still trying to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing to anybody who was driving in the area between 1.30pm and 1.50pm and has any information that can assist this investigation to please get in touch with us.
“If you have dash-cam in your vehicles I would also ask you to contact us. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who can give us extra detail on the manner of driving of a grey Audi RS 4 prior to the collision.
“I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding whilst we conduct inquiries at the scene.” South Wales Police is continuing to appeal for anyone with information concerning the collision or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
